Press Release: Toronto, ON April 15, 2011 – The Continuum Network (TCN), a corporate sustainable performance consulting and business systems firm, has been named to the list of five "Cool Vendors" in the 2011 “Cool Vendors in Green IT and Sustainability” report by Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading IT research and advisory company. The vendors selected for the Cool Vendors report are identified as having “value propositions that blur and expand boundaries” in an increasingly important and quickly shifting IT market segment.
Elisa Turner, CEO of TCN stated, “After a decade of developing our proven solutions concept and systems, we are honoured for being recognized. We believe this report serves as confirmation that we have brought forward a toolset that meets the current market reality, to assist enterprises in better understanding the value achievable from sustainable actions, strategies and investments."
The Report recognized that, “end-user trends indicate that sustainable technologies and applications are starting to be incorporated into core business functions, rather than being treated in independent silos”. Looking to market demands, there has been a notable shift away from tools which “singularly consider the reporting or analysis of carbon emissions toward technologies that visualize and more efficiently manage energy, and provide more holistic analysis of sustainable performance and asset management."
“Having worked with corporate executives to develop our enterprise tools, we foresaw this shift in the market, in which carbon management systems would only be a small piece in the overall ‘sustainable business equation’. In order to maximize the ROI of sustainable initiatives, organizations need to track much more than carbon, especially in an increasingly integrated landscape – and one in which people and their behaviours matter most”, commented Ms. Turner.
Gartner acknowledged that, “one of the challenges of delivering actionable, sustainable business plans for organizations is the requirement of a platform to collect, visualize, analyze and communicate actual corporate performance.”
TCN has responded to this challenge by building tools that benchmark, financially verify and analyze sustainability performance, internally and externally, which is the key for businesses in an environment that still lacks regulated national or international standards for reporting.
Gartner anticipates that 2011 will be an exciting year in the sustainability technology space, with plenty of action in mergers, acquisitions and partnerships. TCN, which develops intellectual property for sustainable enterprise systems, is looking to global-scale opportunities that will see its tools deployed more broadly within the overall marketplace. “Having received the recognition for our work over the last decade, we are now focused on finding a partner to work with to service the global market. With 2011 slated to mark the beginning of mass consolidation in this IT market segment we are already looking to some exciting opportunities.”
